Steamboats

I had 6 days of steamboats at different houses, cooked by different family and they all taste different. I know, you might be thinking, steamboat is just soup and those ingredients like fishball, fish, prawns, meat, vegetables right? How can it taste different?

Every family has their own way of cooking the soup and they are all yummiliciously different!

2 days before CNY I cleverly suggested dinner at Bar-B-Q

My ATM was there. <3

Nom nom nom

The night before CNY had reunion steamboat at Chih Heng's place.

1st Day of CNY steamboat at Ah Win's

Making Popiah for the first time.
2nd Day of CNY was spent at Sis's Godmum's place where I had another round of steamboat - tomyam and clear soup but I did not take picture.
3rd day of CNY, I had my steamboat at Shan's new place

Nom nom nom ice cream.

And the final one was at home but I don't have the picture with me now. So CNY has been of steamboats. Not that I'm complaining. I love anything soup. And homecook ones beats anything out there.

Clinic Cafe with Emmoes

So there's this clinic concept cafe in Gurney Plaza and we decided to pay it a visit since Emmoes are visual beings. We don't mind if the food is just normal, we want the environment. Also to camwhore la. So we went. Diana was er...a bit late and I was practically starving so the food was acceptable to me.

This is Hooi Shan's Tom Yam Bee Hoon. It was spicy to me. But it's still acceptable. They serve their food in this metal container which people use in hospitals during surgery.

Hooi Shan's Tom Yam Bee Hoon, June's Black Pepper Spagheti and Ling Ling's Tom Yam Fried Rice. All super spicy to me. T_T I no goods in eating spicy food.

All the food comes with this tiny little flag and I was telling them, 'Amboi happy posing all, but when PBSM ask to donate, run far far =P'.

As the value of this place is the place itself, we took lots of pictures which I believe will be more if Swee Win comes back to join us.

We got a syringe of....blood...No la, chili sauce. And I purposely ordered the 'money bag' to get this syringe of chili sauce. =P /shy I is like that la. But we get to camwhore with this thing so all is well. Worth the money paid. Nom nom nom.

Me and our (shared with Diana) fried rice I forgot what we ordered. -.-"
The awesome-possum light. Needs to do some surgery now *mask on, coat on* Cuts open....the chicken.

Love the girls.

Our drinks in this...beaker. =P My Chemistry super fail. Forgot all the names for these things already.

And the most important one, Hooi Shan... <3

I would say this place is worth a second visit. For the environment cause a lot of them weren't around to join us. And the food is alright. Not like super good but it's good enough. Besides, the last trip, someone paid for us. Like drama kan? You know you and your giggly girl friends go makan, then walk to the counter to pay.

 Cashier: Thank you.
You: How much?
Cashier: No, it's paid for.
You: Huh? What do you mean?
Cashier: Someone paid for you already.
You: No no no, you got the wrong table.
Cashier: No, that person said he/she is your friend. Paid for you already.
You: No, no, I don't have a friend. I think you've made a mistake.
Friends: Sure it's table 25?
Cashier: Yep, table 25.
Friends + you: *Puzzled* okay. Thanks.

*runs in case they realized it's wrong table* KIDDING. =) Friend's friend paid for us. No secret admirer at work here. Sien. Drama Queen wants more drama. *taps finger on the table*

Never look back

Been a long time since I last updated with any pictures at all despite having quite a lot of things happening in my life. I am less an anti-social now compared to my first year and I can finally say I do quite enjoy USM. And I've only got 3 years so really, if I'm going to hate it for this 3 years, I will never get the chance to re-experience it when I finally miss them. That aside.

The title of the blog post is actually for the new me with colored contacts. I've contemplated for quite a long time before I decide to get myself colored contacts. Also because Master Yoda threw away my contact lense by mistake so I kinda get to er, claim two boxes of colored contacts. HAHAHA Adequate and more than sufficient consideration (some law stuff).

I think for those who had colored contact lense, you'll never look back. Seriously, colored contacts make your eyes bigger *yay* and more lively.

Camwhore pictures I took in Shan, Hooi Shan, Ju-Yen and Yi Lin's 21st.

I edited the above picture so it's fairer.

And once you learnt how to put on make-up, I think it's hard to look back. Putting on make-up to me is a luxury la. I don't do it on daily basis because I'm too lazy and Ping Ping is almost blind without specs. With contacts, she's half blind. I took pride in my camwhore skills ok? So it's ok if people say I sometimes don't look like me in the picture.

It takes lots of practise, patience and skills to be able to look somewhat different in pictures. It's all about the angle, which angle is your best angle. I enjoy dressing up and putting on make-up because it's just so fun to do it. But it's so hard to do it in uni because I walk a lot so I need my sport shoe and you can hardly dress up with bulky sport shoe. Then it's so hot so everything melt, including you. And as I've said, I'm blind without specs and half-blind with contacts so wearing contacts to class is not an option because I need to see well in class.

This is how I look like daily in uni.

Crap I'm such a boring person already. T____T Like I always am. Anyway, exam is ending in another 8 days with 5 papers to fight through. I've been studying hard, sleeping late and being a student. Mummy will be proud. Except that I slept in the library, on top of a pile of dictionaries, carefully stacked up to form my 'pillow'

Before I end my sad post, I shall show you food picture!!! Yay!! Be prepared to feel hungry after all these.

Makan marathon

Will be eating a lot this week. Bad bad bad for the waistline (not that it's good now anyway).

Eating plan goes like this (crap, I even have eating plan. How now?)

Wednesday- Secret Recipe (it has been a longgggg time since I last had it and this time, someone is belanja-ing. Bestest)

Thursday - BBQ Steamboat opposite UMNO (sigh, when your lovelies are craving for it, you'll just have to join)

Friday - Coffee Island with Faith CG members to meet up with Pearl.

Saturday - BBQ at the beach with PKA-ians.

I did not realize this until I type this post because all I can remember was Wednesday and Thursday nights I'll be eating luxuriously and spending a lot. Then I remembered, eh, Friday and Saturday also got. So yes, makan marathon I'm having here and not intentionally did I arrange all this. Look at my stingy face, you'll believe me.

But I couldn't be happier. Because I'll be hanging out with these people I really love and enjoy being around with and ahem, taking pictures and ahem, I GOT LIFE OKAY? SOCIAL LIFE THAT IS. I was always the hide-in-the-room kind of person in hostel and now, I've got dates. =))) Happy.

So what if I'm pampered?

Am being pampered with good food and yummy tong sui ever since I came back for the sem break. The second sis has been complaining though.

"How come when Ping's not around you never buy tau hua?"
"I also like to drink these juice and eat yogurt ma. Why when Ping's not home you did not buy?"

Green-eye monster is lurking around. Sometimes they'll complain, "How come only lunch get to eat that dish? Dinner leh?" Teehee, lunch is just me and granny while dinner is with everyone but certain dish is good only when it's hot, and since everyone comes back at different times, granny cook that dish for lunch only.

=P I love being pampered. Don't you?

ps: I know, it's all about food. So now have that solved the mystery of why Ping Ping was and still is like a ball? Sigh.

pps: THE MANNI-QUEEN IS UPDATED WITH NEW CLOTHES!!!!!

The eldest sis's advance birthday

We went to Shenanigans (which means something crazy in Irish) for dinner. We all dressed up for this okay? It's a rule that everyone must dress up for another person's birthday. This started when it was my 21st birthday.
The guests arrived.

A picture of the guest. Clockwise: The mother and daughter look-a-like contestant (Me and mummy), the family (seated on the most left and right are Datin and old bean respectively), the couple (Pao and Hern), the birthday girl (Che)

The birthday girl with our present for her, the bracelet.

Food. The food was actually good. I think grandma loves the fish and chips which was done in the British style, something new. The chips are a bit too salty but it was okay. However, there's not much choices on the menu as they have not much customers at the diner area and have been reducing the selection from the menu.

Different people react differently to a good pint of Kilkenny. The eldest sister who was a pro did it with class and said that it's smooth. The second sister who is more controlled, although did not like alcohol could do it in style. The youngest one who FAILED to maintain her coolness and showed this kind of face. IT WAS BITTER AND I ONLY HAD A SIP CAUSE I DRANK MORE FOAM.

The three sisters.

The old bean wanted to take picture with all of us so here's mine.
The only picture our Datin is smiling. Trick is? Take picture with her after her tummy is filled. =P Just kidding.

Back at home. The three sisters insisted to take more pictures before we take down our 'mask' like what Pao said. A normal happy one. Then Che say eh, all act cool.

I looked more angry than cool (cool factor 7), Che looked very 'sombong' (cool factor 9), Pao looked KESIAN (cool factor 0). T___T FAILED. She say looks like she kena bully then we stood up for her.

Anyway, after this picture, I was seen wearing the exact dress with my blue and green slippers running about. XD Followed mum to send her documents.

Pampered Child 2

The yummies granny cook for me before I go back USM. 4 more days. Good food makes a rounder Ping. So I got a plate face now.

Feel so loved and pampered. It makes the worms that were in the soup taste ok. T___T Yes, got worms in the soup and I drank two bowls (for two meals) before I saw it when my sis came back for dinner. Apparently it's from the peanuts. It's white and tiny.

Makan-makan at Smokey Jack

Was at a Musician Workshop at my church with Pao the other day. If anyone who KNOWS Altered Frequency, you are free to scold me. T__T Cause I don't know them though I talked to them and they were teaching us stuff (read: stuff cause all are music stuff and I'm not a pro).

We left for lunch with Che, her colleague and my mum in Smokey Jack at Upper Penang Road cause sis work there.

The whole concept there was a bit like jungle with 'old doors' as ceiling, cocoon as chairs, and lots of branches and roots everywhere. It is so real that it's a bit creepy.

I'm gonna start with three pictures of us cause mummy and che's colleague was late. =P

Me
Che
Pao.

After placing our orders-two set meals, they serve us with two buns with three spreads. The two yellow ones on the side are sweet butter while the middle one is garlic butter spread. Yumness. The buns are fresh. We got two types of bun, one which is multi grain/wholemeal and another normal one. If you order just one set, they'll just give you the sweet butter. However, I think you can request for the garlic one if you want to give it a try.

The surrounding.

The soup of the day. I would not recommend you the soup as it has a very strong milky taste. Taste like baby's milk, probably because they put too much milk in it. Don't like it at all.

The salad. I like the salad though. The salad comes with a in house salad sauce cause it taste special. But yummy nevertheless. Besides, it's a healthier choice as it has lots of fibres.

Club Sandwich. Two thumbs up. I would love to go back to try this again because it's yummy. Very filling as there's four slices of bread. They stuff it with huge chicken breast, lots of vege and bacon. Two people can share this if you are not a big eater.

Onion rings. I don't know if it happened only the day we went or it's that bad. It is soggy, oily and totally NOT CRUNCHY AT ALL. Worst onion rings I've ever had. So I would suggest to them to either improve it or remove it from the menu. What a waste of money to order that.

Penne Chicken Pasta. This one is okay. It's rich with lots of cheese and cream. But I'm not a cream pasta person. I'm more to the Bolognese one so I couldn't appreciate this a lot but it was okay, we managed to finish this.
Would love to try the fish next time around because I heard it was good.
The toilet.
